Calling all Darren Criss fans! Your fandom needs you!
Remember a few days ago I mentioned the possibility of a Birthday Book project? Well I’ve decided to kick it into action! I’d like to thank the people who sent notes, asks, reblogged and sent emails! I know I’m not particularly well known here, so I had low expectations for how much response I’d get, but if I hadn’t gotten some positive responses, this little rocket ship would never have gotten off the ground. So you guys are ultimately responsible for getting this ship in the air, thank you!
I’m afraid it’s not too flashy, and we’ve got a long way to go, but operation DCBirthdayBook is officially a GO! Please help us promote it!
Not being able to do my usual digital drawings sucks, but it’s reminded me how nice it is to break out the old pencil and paper once in a while =3 When I get my wacom back, I’ve got a lot to catch up on. But in the mean time, I’ve been preoccupied with thinking about Darren’s Birthday and the DC UK Flashmob. The hard work of it’s primary organizer, Veronica, has inspired me a bit, and so I find myself considering the possibility of a Birthday Book. I think I’m capable of organising one if I can stir up enough interest. What do you think, would any of you guys want to join in a project like that?
For those not familiar with fan birthday books, there’s usually two types: Letter books, which are a collection of letters and birthday wishes printed as a one-off book, and art books, which are a collection of fanart birthday gifts in much the same manner. As an artist, I’m mainly thinking about an art book, but I’m not ruling out the possibility of a mix of the two. Darren Criss has a lot of very artistic fans, and I think we could easily fill a decent sized birthday book! But perhaps I’m being too ambitious… So this is just early days. Just thoughts right now, nothing concrete, nothing committed. At the moment, it’s just an idea. Is anyone interested in joining me in a Darren Criss birthday book? Send me an ask, or email me at hokutoneko (at) yahoo (dot) co (dot) uk if you think you might be interested. If I get enough interest, then we’ll see where we go from there.
Meanwhile, if you’re in the UK and you haven’t joined yet, get your asses over to the DC Flashmob UK, because let’s face it, that’s going to be far more awesome a birthday present than anything I could organise. Are you still here? Go, go, go!
And I thought I was the only person who still says ‘hodgepodge’; huzzah for word revival! =D But more importantly, hell yeah for Ashley talking about the Manchester Live XD I was there, just four rows from the front. The vibe was intense! It was incredible XD
“TRY TO HIT ME!”
Darren’s lovely videogame voice
I laughed for about 3 minutes solid, or possibly more, and I’m not even exaggerating! I went through two tissues for all the lul-tears I cried XDD Can you imagine him in the studio doing this? The expressions? The hand-acting? Oh my good gravy, this is murder on my lungs! I actually don’t have a gif to adequately represent my reaction!
A poll has been put up on the facebook group to determine who will be able to come to flashmobs in different cities in the UK. Please take part so that we can determine whether we can do this
If you’re in the UK on Feb 5th next year, and you love Darren Criss, you might wanna be invoved in the DCUK fashmob. Or flashmobs. London is a confirmed location, but we’re talking about and considering other places, so now is you chance to make your opinion count. Go and vote on locations that would suit you, please! Also, if you want to go, join the group! They need an idea of how many people are interested -now- so that arrangements can get underway, so don’t stall! Your fandom needs you!

((*EDIT* The heck? I corrected a spelling mistake and accidentally deleted everything I’d had under the ‘read more’. I’m going to very quickly write the gist of it up again but without the ‘read more’ since I obviously aren’t using it properly. Sorry if the rushed rewrite is less eloquent. ))
So this is about the derping surrounding the fact that Chris Colfer is owning the HH Hottest male under 25 poll here and the fact that some people are bitching that Chris doens’t belong in first place and are using insults to justify that opinion.
1) This is a poll. Polls show what the majority of people believe. If the majority of people voted Chris Colfer into first place, that’s exactly where he belongs. It doens’t mean he -IS- the hottest male, but it means that the readers of that poll think he is, and that’s the point of he poll. Deal with it.
2)What you think is hot isn’t necessarily what another person thinks is hot.
-If you think everyone else has to share your taste in men, you have a problem.
-If you can’t accept everyone is allowed to have their own opinion and vote for who they want, you have a problem.
-If you deal with not getting what you want by insulting people, you have a problem.
3) ‘Hot’ isn’t defined solely by visual beauty. Attraction is based on more than just the physical. A persons actions, mannerisms, beliefs and principles, their personality and the way they handle the problems life throws their way - these play a huge part in what we see in a person. If you are judging Chris and your personal celeb crush solely on photos, you’re doing them an injustice.
4) The awkward moment when someone posts a photoshopped-to-hell studio photo of their fave celeb as an example of who they are and why you should like them. Not that I object to these photos, they do serve a purpose, and yes, these type pf photos exist for Chris too! But their goal is to find the best lighting, airbrush out as many ‘flaws’ as possible and to generally make your favourite person look less like themselves and more like a perfect studio model. If you like your person best when they’ve had everything that makes them unique removed, you might want to take a look at opinion 3 again.
5) Chris is something of a poster-boy for gay rights and anti bullying - his fight for those causes is part of why people admire him so much. When you call him a 'girl'and a ’cabbage patch kid’ you’re being a bully. It’s not cool. And I’m pretty sure your celb crush would not approve of what you are doin and saying in his name. If the only way you can make your celeb crush look good is by insulting other people, you’re doing a great diservice to your celeb.
I’d also like to add that this applies to everyone; I haven’t seen any Chris fans rudely insulting other celebs, but if they are then this applies to them too!
I conclude this babble post of unwanted opinions with a classic Darren quote:
Single Ladies, Manchester (June 23rd, 2011) - Uploading because a lot of the SL videos are down now, and this was really the highest quality one of the entire tour, so for posterior…err…posterity.
This is not mine. (The video, I mean. But Kurt’s not mine, either.)
It’s really a shame we won’t see this in 3D.
When it comes out in the UK, I’m hoping (unrealisticaly, I know) that for some reason, it’s included in our version. Well, a girl can dream! Honestly, why would they leave this out in the first place? Maybe it’ll be on the DvD instead =/ Then again, now I feel a bit luckier for getting to see it live in Manchester myself XD
I’ll be off to see Glee 3D at Birmingham Odeon with a bunch of other members of the DCUKST on August 22nd http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=210660782313491 So if you’re in the Midlands you might wanna come along and share the fun =D Might as well use this as an excuse to plug! =D
